Welcome to the Multnomah Law Library. We strive to provide excellent service and equitable access to legal information to all members of the community. To promote a safe and comfortable environment and to ensure appropriate use of services and resources, the Library has adopted the following Rules of Conduct.
Behaviors that infringe upon the rights of library users or staff are prohibited. Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to, the following:
Exhibiting threatening, intimidating or disrespectful behavior including obscene or abusive language.
Engaging in behavior that is potentially unsafe or harmful to others.
Creating noise that disturbs others such as loud or excessive talking or noise from cell phones or electronic equipment.
Possessing, selling or being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
Using tobacco products.
Damaging, misusing or stealing library property or materials.
Selling, soliciting, petitioning or canvassing.
Leaving personal items unattended. The Library is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.
Sleeping in the library.
Eating at library computers.
Disturbing others with offensive odors or personal hygiene.
Photographing or filming without prior permission. Personal electronic devices may be used to photograph Library materials.
Interfering with the free passage of others.
Leaving children under the age of 12 unattended. The Library is not responsible for the safety or behavior of children.
Violating Internet and computer use policies.
Engaging in any activity prohibited by federal, state, local or other applicable law.
Please report concerns or policy violations to a library staff member. Anyone violating these rules may be asked to leave the library and/or subject to the loss of library privileges.
